ACBA Event: How to become a Temporary Judge (Pro Tem) in Alameda County

The Alameda County Superior Court is currently in need of volunteer Temporary Judges (Judges Pro Tempore)! Gain great experience, strengthen your relationship with the court (and other judges) while filling a need and giving back to the legal community. Presenters include former and current Pro Tem judges, commissioners, and court administrators.
This program will touch on a variety of aspects of sitting as a Temporary Judge, including: an overview of the educational requirements, the application process, self-monitoring our unconscious biases, exhibiting fairness, tools needed to go through a typical calendar, and appropriate judicial demeanor on the bench dealing with self-represented litigants, as well as other ethical considerations faced while sitting as a temporary judge.
